According to the official standards of the FIP (International Pickleball Federation) and USA Pickleball, the technical specifications for a tournament-level pickleball court are as follows:
Full playing area, including lines:
Length: 44 feet (13.41 m)
Width: 20 feet (6.10 m)
These dimensions apply to both singles and doubles play.
Distance between posts: Approximately 22 feet (6.71 m) – measured inside from post to post.
Net height:
At center: 34 inches (~86 cm)
At sidelines: 36 inches (~91 cm)
Net length: Minimum 21 ft 9 in (~6.63 m) and at least 30 inches (~76 cm) in width.
Top of net: Bound with a 2 inch (~5 cm) white tape band.
Non-Volley Zone (Kitchen):
Extends 7 feet (2.13 m) from the net on both sides, spanning the full court width. Players may not volley while standing in this zone.
Service areas:
Beyond the NVZ line to the baseline, each service box measures 10 ft wide (3.05 m) by 15 ft long (4.57 m), divided by a centerline.
For safe player movement outside the playing lines:
Minimum: 30 × 60 feet (9.14 × 18.29 m)
Ideal for tournament play: 40 × 64 feet (12.9 × 19.5 m)
Surface type:
Indoor: Typically polyurethane sports flooring.
Outdoor: Concrete, asphalt, or classic sports court surfaces.
For comfort and traction, matte/acrylic coatings are preferred.
Line width: 2 inches (~5 cm), in a contrasting color (commonly white or black).
